Parts of a Jellyfish

These are the parts of a jellyfish. They are important for you to know so that when you do see a jellyifsh you know where you can touch it and where it can sting you from.
Bell- it's at the top of a jellyfishes body and it's the part that holds a jellyfish together.
Stomach pouch- where all the jellyfish food goes when the jellyfish eats.
Lappet- where the nerves of the jellyfish react from.
Rhopalium - it's part of the lappet or it works with the lappet with the nerves.
Oral Arms- They're the arms of the jellyfish that don't sting but help the jellyfish move around in the water.
Tentacles- They are the arms which have stinging rays which the nerves send to. These are the arms that you have to watch out for. They hang down with the oral arms so it's kind of confusing.

Day 3 of Work and Blogging

I'm going to give you a small history of jellyfish in this post so you can know more about jellyfish. Jellyfish lived in the oceans for more than a million years. They live everywhere in each sea there are different jellyfish types some extremely dangerous and some not dangerous at all. The jellyfish that wash up onto the shores of Dammam or Khobar beaches aren't much of a danger. They would only sting.Jellfish come in colors that are attractive like pale blue, pink, dark purple, yellow, bright orange, brown, or even white. They can be tiny or larger than 3 humans. Jellyfish reproduce in a different way. They naturally have the baby eggs in them which later grow. Sometimes jellyfish get washed up to shore and thats where they lay their eggs. It's kind of different than other animals. When the jellyfish grow up, they are always hungry. They eat shrimp and plankton. Some of the food they eat are even so small you can't see them. They either catch their prey with their sticky tentacles or wait for their pray to just swim in and they catch them and eat them. When it moves it uses this nerve in it's body that is sensitive to light, so when it sees light, the nerve reacts which causes the jellyfish to move upwards with it's muscles. Jellyfish stings are really powerful. They can kill a person in less than three minutes. Day 2 of Project

I'm starting to research jellyfish stings. I want to find out the different symptoms of jellyfish stings, and which jellyfish are more powerful than others. I'm researching the different types of jellyfish and i'm going to pick 6 of those which are the most interesting and discover how they sting, their color, and other interesting things about them. I got some important things about jellyfish that everyone would wonder about, like how jellyfish get to shore and how do jellyfish swim? I made a slide today about the interesting things that people might have had questions about. I'm going to add a video to this post to have you see how jellyfish swim and how the current washes them up to shore. I haven't gone to the beach yet to do that.

1st day on Blogger

My first day on blogger.com to do my project. It's about jellyfish and I got the idea from the spring break because I was on the beach and my brother saw jellyfish and started to play with them. We asked the boat club that was on the beach and they said they only sting and there is no effect. My brother picked them up with his hand and it didn't sting him and I wondered why and that's what I thought was interesting. I touched it too, it felt like the gooey stuff that comes in the small container and the jellyfish looked so nice that you would want to touch it. This is why I chose this project and today I just made my blogger account and I got some pictures about jellyfish, along with some information and I began to form my PowerPoint presentation. I am thinking of making a model but I might change my mind later.
